Caregivers should have first aid kits in a known location in the home of the elderly or disabled and should regularly check product expiration dates on the contents.
First Aid Kits For Use In The Home Of The Elderly And Disabled

Everyone should have first aid kits in their home and that includes in the homes of the elderly and disabled. The products that are included inside of a kit can range from manufacturer to manufacturer, but all will contain basic equipment for simple first aid. Basic equipment includes antiseptic wipes, scissors, aspirin, first aid booklet, tweezers, thermometer, cloth tape, and gloves. It would also be prudent to include an electronic blood pressure monitor, a working flashlight and a list of emergency contact numbers and an extra supply of essential medication.

We have provided a selection of first aid kits, many assembled by the Red Cross. These kits have combined basic equipment in to one easily accessible box. However, you can create your own first aid kits. The Red Cross has listed a recommended checklist of items to include in first aid kits.

Purchase more than one first aid kit and leave them in several key areas of the house and also either buy or assemble one to keep in your car.
